At Roamate, we’re not just another travel app. We’re building a vibrant, inclusive community that values safety, respect, and authentic connections. To keep our community safe and trustworthy, we have established these Community Guidelines. By using Roamate, you agree to follow them both on and off our platform.

Profile Guidelines
Username
We encourage authentic usernames that represent your identity or common nicknames. Usernames should feel real, approachable, and everyday-friendly.We prohibit usernames that:
- Contain explicit or offensive language.
- Impersonate celebrities, fictional characters, or others.
- Use non-standard characters (e.g., emojis, symbols like $, @, *, punctuation, etc.).
Profile Photos
We require:
- At least one photo clearly shows your face.
- Your profile photos depict you accurately.
We prohibit:
- Heavily altered images that obscure your real appearance.
- Photos containing primarily text, graphics, or memes.
- Photos of children alone or images of unclothed children.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to join Roamate. Creating a profile that misrepresents your age is strictly prohibited. We reserve the right to verify your age using official identification. Underage users will be immediately removed.Content and Conduct Guidelines
Adult Content and Sexual Activity
Roamate does not permit nudity, sexually explicit imagery, or sexually vulgar content. Commercial solicitation of sexual services or explicit materials is strictly forbidden.Harassment, Abuse, and Bullying
We prohibit all forms of harassment, bullying, intimidation, or abusive behavior, including emotional abuse, unwanted repeated contact, insults or humiliation, intimidation, unsolicited appearance-related comments, blackmail, or encouragement of violence.Child Safety
Zero tolerance for content involving sexual exploitation or endangerment of minors (real or fictional). Never create, distribute, or share child abuse material, even to “raise awareness.”Commercial Activity
Roamate is for genuine traveler connections—not commercial or promotional use. No soliciting, advertising, or promoting businesses, services, products, or brands without explicit authorization.Illegal Goods and Substances
Do not use Roamate to sell, purchase, distribute, or promote illegal drugs or controlled substances (including cannabis where illegal), vaping products, prescription medications sold illegally, drug paraphernalia, tobacco, or alcohol sold unlawfully.Dangerous Organizations and Individuals
No endorsement, glorification, or participation in violent, extremist, or terrorist activities.Identity-Based Hate
We strictly prohibit hate, degradation, dehumanization, or contempt toward any person or group based on protected characteristics (e.g., race, ethnicity, nationality, immigration status, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, health conditions, religion, beliefs).Fake or Misleading Profiles
Authenticity is core to Roamate. Catfishing, impersonation, or misrepresenting your identity or personal details (including age, gender, or location) is strictly prohibited.Misinformation
No demonstrably false or substantially misleading content—especially content that threatens public health/safety, contradicts authoritative organizations, or propagates harmful conspiracy theories.Violence and Threats
Prohibited: threats or credible acts of violence (physical harm, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, exploitation, coercion). Credible threats may result in immediate suspension and reporting to authorities.Scams, Fraud, and Theft
No attempts to defraud, deceive, or manipulate others into financial loss. This includes soliciting funds, misrepresenting romantic intentions for material gain, or any scam tactics.Sexual Harassment
Strictly forbidden: unwanted explicit messages or images, indecent exposure, sharing explicit content without consent, cyberflashing, and unwanted sexual advances or comments.Spam and Platform Abuse
No spamming, irrelevant links, creating multiple accounts for disruption, or automated bulk messaging.Self-Harm and Suicide
We do not allow content that promotes, glorifies, or assists acts of self-harm, suicide, disordered eating, substance misuse, or dangerous behavior.Graphic and Violent Imagery
Prohibited: violent, graphic, or disturbing imagery (weapons, severe injuries, blood), unless clearly contextualized (e.g., official uniformed service personnel).Platform Manipulation
No automated or scripted actions to scrape, manipulate, or game Roamate. Circumventing bans via VPNs/alternate accounts is prohibited and may result in immediate removal.Reporting and Enforcement
Safety Reporting
The safety of our community is our top priority. Please report content or behavior that violates these guidelines or makes you feel unsafe using the in-app Report function immediately.False or Malicious Reporting
Reporting based solely on a user’s identity (e.g., gender identity, ethnicity) is prohibited and may result in consequences for the reporter.Enforcement Philosophy
We take violations seriously and will take action proportionate to severity and context. Roamate may:- Remove problematic content;
- Issue warnings;
- Suspend or terminate user accounts;
- Cooperate with law enforcement in serious cases.
