Safer travel starts with trust

Travel is better when everyone feels safe. Roamate gives you tools—profiles, compatibility matching, and optional verification—to help you make smarter choices before you share a room or cabin.

What is Cleared to Roam™

Cleared to Roam™ is an optional verification that adds a visible badge to your profile.

  • Identity verified through a licensed third‑party provider
  • Background check where legally available
  • Extra context for people deciding whether to share space

Important: Verification reduces risk—it doesn’t remove it. Use judgment and the safety basics below.

How it works (3 steps)

  1. Consent & verify — You opt in, confirm your identity, and agree to the check.
  2. Private processing — A licensed provider runs the verification; results aren’t public.
  3. Badge appears — Your profile shows a Cleared to Roam™ badge that others can see.

What we (generally) check

  • Government ID match
  • Disqualifying criminal records (where data is available)
  • Known safety red flags reported through Roamate

What we don’t check

  • Credit scores, immigration status, or medical information
  • Anything outside provider coverage or legal scope
  • Real‑time behavior—no one can guarantee conduct on any trip

Safety basics we recommend

  • Meet in public first. A coffee, hotel lobby, or cowork space is perfect.
  • Share your plan. Tell a friend where you’re staying and when you’ll check in.
  • Agree on boundaries in chat. Budget split, quiet hours, visitors, and plan flexibility.
  • Use in‑app messaging until you’re comfortable moving elsewhere.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, walk away—no explanation needed.

Boundaries to discuss before booking

Budget: nightly cap, split method, deposits, refunds
Sleep: lights‑out times, alarm habits, snoring/earplugs plan
Guests & visitors: what’s okay and what isn’t
Daily pace: early starts vs. late nights; solo vs. shared time
Hygiene: bathroom timing, laundry, fragrance sensitivities
Noise: calls, music, TV, headphones policy
